19th November 2019 Meeting
It's a Thanksgiving Smorgasbord at the SMLA! This month, we'll have speakers on Airbnb and Unit Registration, new lead paint testing guidelines, and new Mainer's tenant training programs.
Jessica Hanscombe, Licensing and Housing Safety Manager at the City of Portland, will cover how to register your rental units, receive discounts, check the website to update your info. She will also go over Portland's current Short Term Rental ("Airbnb) rules.
Karyn Butts, Healthy Homes Program Manager from the Maine CDC, will be on hand to discuss LD1116 and the shift to universal blood lead testing of children in the state of Maine.
Claude Rwaganje, Executive Director of ProsperityME, will share the work they do to teach local tenants housing skills and financial literacy, so that new Mainer's can have successful and prosperous lives and careers in Maine. Due to the alignment with SMLA values, ProsperityME has been chosen by the SMLA's Philanthropy Committee as one of our target organization for member donations.
